Taking great baby photos isn't as hard as it seems. The are several tips that can be used to get a better baby pictures.
Remember your baby is a lot smaller than you. If you want your pictures to be great, get down on her level. Lay on the floor with her. Don't take pictures shooting down at your baby. It'll be a wasted shot and who really wants a picture looking down at the top of your baby's head?
Take pictures of your baby doing everyday things. Simple things like playing with his toys or looking out of the window can make wonderful photographs. Don't save the camera for when he's doing something cute. By the time you get the camera the moment is gone.
Get close to her. Fill the viewfinder with your baby. Look at what's in the background, is it really necessary? If not, move closer. If you have a zoom lens, use it. The more of your baby that fills the frame, the more you'll love the picture.
Take pictures in natural light, even indoors. Open the windows and let in as much light as possible. Use your body as a tripod. Using your arms to support the camera on the floor makes this easy. The resulting photos can look marvelous.
If you are using a flash, turn on as many lights as you can and open the curtains. The more light in the room, the better. This helps avoid that red eye look.
Don't be afraid to waste film. Shoot lots of pictures of the same thing. Out of every roll of film you take, there is usually only one or two really good pictures. Professional photographers shoot 30 rolls of film to get that one great shot. You don't have to go that far, but the more you take, the more likely it is that you will get a truly classic photograph.
You don't need to buy expensive film. Cheaper film quality is usually good enough for most family pictures. But don't buy film that's expired. Although most of the time expired film is fine, if the film hasn't been properly stored it can cause the film colors to dramatically distort.
Store your film in the refrigerator before and after you use it. But make sure it's in a dry place. This will preserve the film's quality. Do not leave film anywhere near a source of heat. And process your film as soon as possible after it's taken.
You'll be surprised that by following these few simple tips how many really great photographs of that baby you will get.
