2 Timothy 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Paul is telling Timothy in the above verst to avoid "word-battles" because they only destroy those that partake in them. He says instead to “study” or to be diligent in your manner toward God. What is being said here is that we as believers are to meditate or study in a manner that is presentable before God. We need to present our life holy before God. God does not just desire for us to present only part of our self, but He desires all of us. He desires our entire being to be presented to Him clean and pure. God does not desire that we study to please man. He desires that we study to please Him. So what is your motivation when you study the Word of God? Are you studying to show your self approved before man or before God? Whose approval are you seeking?

Paul tells us that we are to present ourselves, our entire being, to God. Paul then continues by giving a description of a person that is approved of God. Paul does not speak here of a person that is eloquent and professional in their presentation of themselves, instead he speaks of some one that is pure and holy before God wanting only to please God not man. He speaks of some one that has rightly separated them self from the world and stepped into the Word of God. Paul speaks of a person that is not concerned with what the world sees. Paul speaks in this chapter of a person that has only one thing on their mind—meditating on the Word of God. Or, we could say that this person has only one thing on their mind which is PLEASING GOD.

Paul is giving us a great lesson in this chapter, specifically in this 15th verse, he is telling us to be careful how we handle the Word of God. Paul is saying take care how you study the Word of God. We as diligent and faithful believers must study and ask God to administer the truth of His Word to us. God wants us to step into His Word with courage. Many Christians do not have the courage to say NO to the world and instead slip into confusion and distress. Study the Word of God so that you may walk fully in the righteousness of God in Christ.

Blessed be the name of Jesus, He is precious and God our Father wants each and every one of us to meditate day and night on the Word and to tell others of Christ’s grace and glory. God desires for us to prosper and be of great success. God desires us to delve into the Word of God uplifting mankind not dragging mankind down. God desires for us to take His Word as it is written. God does not want us twisting His words and taking them out of context to fulfill our hearts desire. God wants us to fill our hearts desire by accepting His Word as it is written. Fill your heart and mind with thoughts of God. You are a new creation, you are wise and have the wisdom and knowledge of Christ. Through Him you can do all things and all things are yours through Him!
